As the first retail customer to place his order for one of these new 300bhp hyper-hatch’s it seemed only fitting that Mr Seymour be the first to take delivery, something he did today the 29th June.
Mr Seymour, proprietor of St Dennis Guest House in St Ives, has owned one of the previous Focus RS’s for over 5 years and had been a firm candidate on our list for the new Focus RS ever since it was first rumoured that Ford would be producing one nearly 3 years ago.
If you haven’t read any of the press on this car you can’t have been reading any press recently. It has shot straight to the top of every magazines list of hot hatches, some even going as far as to call it a hyper-hatch, a new level in front wheel drive hatchback performance. While the old RS, in it’s day, was considered the finest handling front wheel drive car, it was said that 220bhp was about as much as you could put through the front wheels, some even thought that too much, it was a stunning car to drive some people just couldn’t handle it.
This new car has over 300bhp being poured delicately over the front wheels and thanks to a new suspension setup, "The RevoKnuckle," there isn’t a hint of drift or torque steer, you even have to try very hard to get the front wheels to spin in a straight line! It is truly a genius piece of engineering and finally lays to rest the need for a fast road car to be rear or four wheel drive…. I didn’t believe at first but now I’m a convert!!!
